Dr. Luke Adams - Medicinal Chemist
Luke Adams is a Senior Research Fellow, Medicinal Chemistry at Monash University and the Business Development Manager for the Monash Fragment Platform (MFP). Luke has over 20 years’ experience as a medicinal/synthetic chemist applied across a range of business sectors including contract research, the pharmaceutical industry and within academia. He received his MSci and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, UK. Followed by a Postdoctoral Scientist role at Colorado State University, USA. Luke returned to the UK and spent 7 years in industry working for a range of different businesses including: Syngenta, an agrochemical company; CellAura Technologies, a start-up specialising in fluorescently labelled agonists and antagonists for GPCRs; Concept Life Sciences (formally Peakdale Molecular), a contract research organization. In 2012 Luke joined the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS), Monash University, as a Senior Research Fellow in Medicinal Chemistry. During this time, he has mainly focused on Fragment-Based Drug Design (FBDD) projects under the leadership of Professor Martin Scanlon. In 2020 he joined the MFP where he has taken on a number of roles including project management and business development. Luke has provided operational support and has focused on developing relationships with existing and potential customers and seeking out funding options to allow researchers to access the MFP facilities.
